At the molecular therapeutics department at University of Geneva we offer several quality research and development services. Equipped with state of the art instruments we are a team of highly motivated interdisciplinary researchers. We have had extensive collaborations with industrial partners on both short-term projects – including “fee-for-services” studies and more extended research projects (partner for multiple CTI projects). Our collaborators have usually been companies from cosmetics/skin care, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors. Our services include:
-
Expertise in formulation development that can be used to develop and characterize new formulations for cutaneous (including follicular), ocular and buccal delivery
-
Small chemical modification to prepare more deliverable prodrugs
-
Formulations including gels, films, patches, microparticles, microemulsions and micelles can be developed
-
Chemical and physical enhancement techniques to improve drug delivery and molecular transport
-
Biopharmaceutical studies can be performed to test and compare drug delivery from new and reference formulations
-
Preclinical ex vivo models – porcine and human skin for topical and transdermal delivery, porcine eyes for corneal and transscleral delivery, porcine mucosa for buccal delivery and porcine intestine to evaluate drug absorption from the gastrointestinal tract
-
Quantification by HPLC-UV, HPLC-Fluorescence, UHPLC-MS/MS, ELISA, and enzyme activity assay
-
Visualization by different techniques including confocal laser scanning microscopy and full field optical coherence tomography
-
Experience with low molecular weight drugs, peptides, proteins and antibodies
